What to Do When Your Mac Won't Store Wireless Passwords
Every once in a while my MacBook Pro (running Snow Leopard) decides it's had enough of this whole wireless interwebs business and stops storing passwords to wireless networks.
So instead of automatically finding my home network, my laptop pays an homage to Guy Pearce in 'Memento' and has no memory of the network password. So I have to select the network and reenter the password. Even if I check the 'Remember My Password,' it won't actually store the password. So if I close my laptop or shut it down, I have to reenter the password again the next time I go online.
Frustrating.
Turns out, this happens because something gets womperjawed in the Keychain.
If this happens to you, you can fix the problem with just a few clicks.
1. Go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access
2. Click on 'Login' at the top left of the Keychain Access window.
3. Click on the Keychain Access text menu at the top left of your screen.
4. Select 'Keychain First Aid. A new window will open.
5. Enter your main user password, select the 'Repair' radio button, and click start.
Problem solved!
